TAO organised the TAO Industrial Workshop in La Defense, Paris, France on the 27th of January 2009.

 

The workshop was very successful and attracted more than 40 attendees.

 

The presentations concerned the SOA architecture roadmap, the TAO methodology, the TAO Suite and the use cases. These talks, presented by the TAO partners, raised very fruitful discussions as the attendees were industrial companies potentially interested by the TAO project outputs, it is to say the TAO Suite comprising of the Ontology Learning tools (OntoGen, Latino, RDBToOnto), the Content Augmentation Tools (GATE annotator and the CA Manager) and the Heterogeneous Knowledge Store.

 

 Thanks to the presentations about concrete use cases that the different partners of the consortium are currently implementing within the TAO project or in new external projects (VigiTermes, VideoLectures, etc.) the attendees could see the benefits of such tools and how they can also respond to their own application needs.

 

The various breaks during the day were the occasion to continue sharing our views on the subject of service oriented architecture-based applications with the attendees and to better understand their own business needs. But more interestingly, the attendees exchanged with the other attendees and could identify similar issues, confronting their own choices and solutions, and lastly taking ideas from each other that they can apply. Finally, we received a very good feedback on the TAO Suite, with interesting remarks that we'll help us to finalise the TAO Suite components and integration until the end of the project. But also to envisage future industrial project or collaborations in which the TAO Suite (as a whole or partly) can be exploited and put into practice.
